A little about me personally…I was born and raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta where I enjoyed my young life in the land of sun, heat & rattlesnakes. Everyone considered me to be the little “rebel” way back then and I don’t believe that I have changed much – I still love to challenge the “in the box” thinking. I am so fortunate to be blessed with 2 grown adult children and 3 amazing, and of course, “handsome” grandsons. They have all taught me so many of the life lessons that have shaped me into the strong and independent person I am today. My husband, family, friends and employees all continue to bring me love, joy and the desire to be the best I can be for them every day.

As the founder of HRS I have been driven to building an organization committed to providing a first-class Insurance Products Brokerage and Third-Party Administration Services company that meets the unique needs of clients across Canada.

As an entrepreneur, I have utilized my deep understanding of the complexity of insurance products to develop proprietary plans that provide unique and necessary coverage to my clients while also filling gaps in our industry. As an insurance professional of several decades, I have focused on learning products and understanding their complexities and am proud to be recognized as an expert in Disability insurance. Insurance is not only my ongoing career of choice; I also continue to mentor new advisors on their journey to success in this industry. I have also served my industry by sitting on the board of the Independent Financial Brokers for many years. Phil is an Insurance Professional with 35 years experience specializing in the design, placement, and management of leading-edge benefit plans for international organizations with globally mobile employees and individuals. His experience includes developing and implementing marketing and sales strategy and tools, proposal development for potential clients, and designing new products and services such as ‘branded’ individual products, association programs, reinsurance arrangements and high-risk placements.

With the advent of Health Risk’s creation of its proprietary seCUREme, Phil became instrumental in locating the applicable Insurance Company to Underwrite and hold the insurance paper for the product line.

Phil’s background includes more than three decades as a respected insurance professional with firms that include Citadel Assurance Company, Manulife Financial Group Benefits as a Group Claims Manager handling all lines of business.  Working as a broker initially with Norfolk Mobility then leading MSH International (CANADA) sales, marketing and Client Services departments.

Employee Group Benefits Sales Advisor

Health Risk Services is seeking a dynamic and driven Employee Group Benefits Sales Advisor to join our team. This role involves developing and maintaining relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and providing tailored insurance and employee benefits solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Group Benefits and Insurance sales, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping businesses and individuals secure their financial futures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients.
    • Conduct regular meetings and presentations to understand client needs and present suitable insurance and benefits solutions.
  • Sales and Business Development:
    • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within the market.
    • Achieve or exceed sales targets and business objectives.
    • Develop and execute sales strategies to grow the client base.
  • Consultation and Needs Assessment:
    • Conduct thorough needs assessments to understand client requirements and recommend appropriate products.
    • Provide expert advice on insurance and employee benefits options, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans.
  • Product Knowledge and Training:
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest products, industry trends, and regulations.
    • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
    • Educate clients on the features, benefits, and limitations of various insurance and benefits products.
  • Customer Service:
    • Provide exceptional customer service to ensure client satisfaction and retention.
    • Address client inquiries and resolve issues promptly and effectively.
    • Assist clients with claims processing and policy management.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in the CRM system.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in the Group Benefits industry.
    • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in the Individual Insurance market.
    • Experience with CRM software and sales tracking systems.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of employee benefits and insurance products.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
